Magazine Genre Research- Eating Well
Eating Well Magazine currently has 1.775 million in circulation. As for awards, in 2013 they were said to be the "advertising A-list" and the Bert Greene Award.
This issue is titled: The Future of Food. It features cover art that shows a bright red tomato being held up by metal arms, showing that futuristic look. Above the bright green leaves is the title of the magazine in large, bold, black letters.
An example of an article in this issue is titled, "Just Don't Call Them GMOs." This article features a new, healthier, more sustainable, tomato. This was accomplished with the help of CRISPER, "a new gene editing technique that's revolutionizing plant breeding." Within this article is an image of Zachary Lippman (Ph.D.) surrounded by hundreds of these new tomatoes growing in a greenhouse. Another article featured in this issue is "Coming Soon to a Plate Near You." This article features the expert, Brad Barbera who is the director of the Good Food Institute and discusses more plant based "meat" options. The image in the article has a red background which really draws the reader's focus. It also features a statistic in relatively large lettering to grab attention.
One advertisement included in this issue is from Lunchables. Placed early on in the magazine, the Lunchable ad showcases its brand new "Brunchables." The ad displays a tweet suggesting the idea to show that the company listens to its customers and is displayed on a lime green background with the text, "Dreams coming true are pricelesss." Another end in this issue is for Probiotic CD. Placed in the back of the issue, probably because its not food, the ad features five cute little monsters going to work to help your digestive system. The bright orange is attention grabbing and "It's All in a Day's Work" is written in large letters at the top.
