Project Selection- My Decision

I have decided to do the magazine project as I feel this is the project that matches my skills the best. I believe that my love for writing mixed with my experience in layouts, makes this project the best choice for me. To complete this task, I have chosen a group of two other people and we have decided to do a food magazine. Although I don't have much experience with photography, my group member Lacey does have experience in this field. This will be very helpful as she can help teach me some tips and tricks for photography. My other group member, Alicia, works in a food truck which gives her first hand experience of the process of making food for a restaurant and serving customers. I would like my issue of the magazine to be centered around Japenese food because my absolute favorite food is sushi For my article, I would like to compare different restaurants for price, service, taste, and plating.

Project Selection- Film

The film project would be interesting to pursue because films have a way of grabbing the audience's attention and conveying emotion. The movie Ferris Bueller, used an unconditional technique of direct address to create a different type of bond between the audience and Ferris. One skill that I possess that will be beneficial for this project is editing through IMovie. My friends and I used to create music videos on this app when we were younger which gave me experience adding music to videos and cutting clips together. I also believe that my love for creative writing will be very useful in the script writing process if I choose to do this project. However, I know there will be some difficult elements to this project. I think the actual filming of the video will be challenging as I will need to have a variety of camera shots in order to make the film interesting. Because I lack experience in this area, I would really have to plan out different shots ahead of time to ensure the video is entertaining to the viewer. This project should definitely be considered as it would be both fun and challenging. 

Project Selection- Magazine

I believe the magazine project would be interesting as print journalism is a great way to convey ideas and express creativity. In movies such as All the President's Men, it shows the power that print journalism has to spread ideas to a wide variety of people. I feel like this project would be good for me because writing is something I am very passionate about. I spend a lot of my free time working on creative writing pieces and have even placed third in an international creative writing contest! Another skill that I process comes from working on the school newspaper. Because of writing for the paper, I have been able to practice choosing layouts and fonts that represent the article well and look professional. However, I do think there will be some challenges along the way. Because I don't have much photography experience, I think I may struggle framing the pictures that I take to create an aesthetically pleasing look for the cover. I will have to practice this skill if I choose to do this project. I think the magazine would test my skills which would make it a very interesting to pursue.
